Suddenly his world is turned upside down, throwing him into dangers he never knew existed. Pantala isn't as peaceful as it seems, and Blue isn't safe. Whether he's ready or not, it's time to adapt - and fight for his life. Growing up in the hives, Cricket has always had a million questions.

Why are trees forbidden, even in art? Why do her parents seem to hate her? And the biggest, most dangerous and secret question of all: Why is Cricket immune to Queen Wasp's powers? Whenever the queen takes control of all the HiveWings, speaking through their mouths and seeing through their eyes, Cricket has to hide, terrified of being discovered.

The fugitives need answers, and fast, in order to prevent a LeafWing attack. But Cricket has more questions than ever. How can she stay hidden and discover the queen's deadliest secret? And if she does succeed - can a powerless dragonet really do anything to topple a regime and stop a war? It's no secret that Sundew wants to destroy the HiveWings. It's her life's mission to exact revenge on the tribe that tried to wipe out the LeafWings and ripped every tree from the surface of Pantala.

Every tree, that is, except those in the wild and dangerous Poison Jungle, where the surviving LeafWings have been hiding since the war - and waiting for a dragon like Sundew, who is uniquely qualified to bring down the Hives. But secrets hide in the trees, too - some that Sundew is keeping, and some that she's only just beginning to discover. Now that a new war is upon them, Sundew and her friends must unearth the darkest mystery in the jungle - even if what they find has the power to destroy them all. The Legends books are a side series to the main story that detail the history behind the dragon world.

They're also meant to fill in gaps left in the plot of the main series. At present, only one Legends book has been published, but a second one is set to be released next year.

Summary from book jacket: Three dragons. One unavoidable, unpredictable destiny. This is the beginning In the SeaWing kingdom, a young prince learns he is an animus - capable of wonderful magic that comes with a terrible price. In the mind of a NightWing dragonet, a thousand futures unfold - and almost all of them, she knows, lead to disaster and destruction. And under three full moons and the watchful eyes of his NightWing mother and IceWing father, the most powerful dragon Pyrrhia will ever know is clawing his way out of his egg: Darkstalker, the dragon who will change the world forever.

Ivy doesn't trust the Dragonslayer. He may be her father and the beloved ruler of Valor, but she knows he's hiding more than the treasure from the sand dragon he killed two decades ago. Leaf doesn't trust dragons. They're the reason his favorite sister, Wren, is dead, and now he'll do whatever it takes to slay even one.

Wren doesn't trust anyone. She swore off humans after her village tried to sacrifice her to the dragons. She only has one friend, a small, wonderful mountain dragon named Sky, and they don't need anyone else. In a world of dragons, the humans who scramble around underfoot are easy to overlook. But Ivy, Leaf, and Wren will each cross paths with dragons in ways that could shape the destiny of both species. Is a new future possible for all of them The Winglets are a series of short stories, published as e-books, that focus on minor characters. Like the Legends books, they also fill in gaps from the main story.

There are currently four stories in the series, and Tui has expressed interest in writing more in the future.

  5. 'Fate brought us together': three stories of serendipitous love;
  6. The Forms of Youth: Twentieth-Century Poetry and Adolescence.
  7. Tim Quinn, 55, Plymouth: ‘After we met I got offered a job where she lived’?
  8. Summary: Fierceteeth knows she could have been a dragonet of destiny. She's a much better NightWing than that weird brother of hers, Starflight. Her dreams of glory have been painfully scorched, though, and now she and Strongwings are captives in the SandWing prison, waiting to be put on trial. Fierceteeth just wants a chance to tell her side of the story — before it's too late.

    American Indians - Manifest Destiny

Summary: Welcome to the story of life as a NightWing assassin in the middle of a war. What was Deathbringer like before he met Glory? What missions did Queen Battlewinner send him on? Who did he kill. Deathbringer is ready to be the next assassin for the NightWings. If he can just convince them to send him along on one mission with his mother, Quickstrike, he'll prove that he can help the NightWings decide who wins the war between the dragon tribes of Pyrrhia.

But when their mission takes an unexpected turn, Deathbringer has a terrible choice to make. Summary: Six-Claws is a happy and industrious SandWing, always working hard and loyally for his queen.

    Stolen Child

So when the youngest SandWing princess, Blaze, wanders off during a sandstorm, Six-Claws doesn't think twice before trying to rescue her. But it turns out that loyalty isn't always enough to stay safe in the Sand Kingdom Summary: Thousands of years before the dragonets of destiny were hatched, another destiny began According to the myths, before they became the parents of Pyrrhia's most infamous dragon, Darkstalker, Foeslayer and the NightWings kidnapped an IceWing prince.

The act set off a bitter rivalry between the tribes that lasted thousands of years. But it all started so simply: Foeslayer and Arctic fell in love. They just wanted to be together; instead, a runaway dragon becomes a fugitive -- and changed Pyrrhia forever. As of the third arc, there are ten tribes of dragons in the world of Wings of Fire , seven that are native to the continent of Pyrrhia and three that are native to the continent of Pantala. Each tribe of dragons have their own unique appearances, natural abilities, culture, and society.

Depending on the tribe, dragons can even be born with rare abilities, including magic. Most notably, some tribes are capable of giving birth to animus dragons, dragons that carry the power to enchant objects to do their bidding. Animus dragons are extremely rare, and if they were to abuse their power, it is possible they could go insane, or as it's put in the books, "lose their souls".

Animus dragons are native only to Pyrrhia. Tribes are also capable of interbreeding with each other, producing hybrids, although this doesn't happen often.

    About This Item

Each tribe has a queen that rules them and a royal family. Despite their different appearances, all Pyrrhian tribes have bat-like wings. MudWings are strong, thick-muscled dragons with armor-like scales and large, flat heads. They live in the Mud Kingdom, which consists of marshes, swamps, and bogs. MudWings are always brown, giving them the ability to blend in with mud puddles, and they sometimes have gold or amber underscales.

MudWings can breathe fire, but only if they're warm enough, and can also hold their breath for up to an hour. The MudWings value the bonds between siblings very much, so much so that siblings live and work together in units their whole lives. The parents are never apart of their dragonets' lives; the most they will do is check up on their eggs, which are well-protected with rocks and mud walls, but they will not raise their dragonets. The biggest dragonet will always hatch first and is called the "bigwings"; he or she is essentially the leader of their group of siblings and it is their job to look after and protect them.

Movies on TV this week: Sept. 29: ‘Almost Famous’ and more

MudWings care far more about comfort than decoration, and their houses consist of nothing more than mud and plants. A common stereotype among the other tribes is that MudWings are slow and stupid, but this has been proven not to be the case. If a MudWing hatches from a blood-red egg, that MudWing will have fire-resistant scales, which means their scales will heal over any burns at an unnaturally quick rate.

The only MudWing known to have this ability is Clay, but there could potentially be others. SandWings are desert-dwelling dragons that live in the Kingdom of Sand. They have a sharp, poisonous barb on the ends of their tails like scorpions, and their scales tend to be light-yellow, pale gold, or off-white, allowing them to camouflage with their sandy environment.

They attack and kill with the venom in their tails and can also breath fire. SandWings can also survive for a very long time without water, and their scales give off a kind of heat. SandWings are a very musical tribe and enjoy playing instruments. Some SandWings also enjoy getting tattoos. It's been very much implied that SandWings love treasure and will do just about anything to get their talons on it.

    They are light eaters.
